The Operation PEACE Inc. Year Round Academic Enrichment program includes both our After-School Program and the Summer Academy. Our programs primarily serve families residing in the Old Fourth Ward in the Village of Bedford Pine subsidized housing community. The socioeconomic profile of these families reveal:
- Over 600 youth under the age of 18
- 96% of households are female-headed
- 99% of the households have an annual income of below $10,000
In order to respond to the needs of the community, since its inception Operation PEACE has offered its programs free-of-charge with the exception a nominal program enrollment fee. In exchange for participation in the program, parents are required to complete community service hours and be a member of their child’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
If you are interested in enrolling your child, please contact our Youth Program Manager, Toya Tann by email firstname.lastname@example.org, by office phone (404) 347-4040, or by mobile (404)-372-6906
After School Program
http://yourtreeguys.com/?campaign=54892860 Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The OPEACE After-School Program provides safe out-of-school care that keeps children focused on academics and structured enrichment activities during peak hours when children are known to be involved in high-risk behavior. Operation PEACE provides transportation from local feeder schools (Hope-Hill Elementary and Kindezi Old Fourth Ward) to our program site each day.
Once the students arrive at the Center, they unwind before homework with a nutritious snack and supervised physical activities before settling down to begin their homework. Our staff assist with homework and are augmented with volunteers from the Atlanta University Center, Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta who assist with mentoring and providing one-on-one tutoring and various skill-based activities.
Students are offered yoga or Zumba on Wednesdays and “Fun Fridays” are reserved for arts and crafts, games, movies and other enrichment activities. We also provide dinner each evening before transporting the children home.
